Production Sites
Berlin
Since its creation in 1949, NOVAPAX is located in West Berlin.
The first premises were in older industrial buildings of Mix & Genest company in the Genest Strasse 6 in Berlin-Schöneberg. Soon more room was needed, and the injection molding activity was moved to an industrial zone in the Rathaus Strasse in Berlin-Mariendorf.
In 1960, a new property of 750 m2, a building from the 1930s, was purchased in Neuenburger Strasse 6. After extensive renovation work, the five-story building became the new head office.
In 1983, Wolfgang Steiner envisioned a new factory with which he could realize his own ideas. From 1986 on, new production halls and office buildings were erected in Schätzelberg Strasse 4-10, overseen by the architect Klaus Staeder.
Subsidiary plant in Leer-Heisfelde
In 1961, a subsidiary plant was built in Leer-Heisfelde in Western Germany in the aftermath of the Berlin wall.
Another reason to build a second factory was the increased need for machine capacities.
Production abroad
From 2000 on, NOVAPAX started to produce also outside Germany to serve its customers that were located abroad but also to optimize costs and reach in the supply charts.
A joint venture was created with the Taiwanese company Greenpoint in Shenzhen, China to produce a circulation air switch for HELLA, a German company that moved its production to Shanghai where parts of this system were manufactured.
Romania
In 2008, NOVAPAX started to manufacture in Romania. This was an initiative by its partner Autoliv, market leader for restraint systems and airbags who already had built a modern factory in Brasov. Together with its Romanian partner Oktavian Tuturea, NOVAPAX Romania was founded where since then similar parts are produced as in Berlin.
India
Also in 2008, NOVAPAX Venus Polymers was founded, together with an Indian partner in Faridabad, India. Production mainly included parts for HELLA. NOVAPAX ended this joint venture in 2019.
